Cancer Working Group has joined forces with RICAS to facilitate cross-disciplinary cancer research between chemists and biologists. The Network is part of the CRUK Glasgow WeCan Centre management board which was established to bring together scientists and clinicians to develop the very best in cancer research, drug discovery and patient care. Research efforts in Glasgow are focussed on pancreatic, colorectal, prostate and haematological cancers and involve teams that have input from a number of different disciplines, from basic biology and chemistry through to clinical trials and surgery. A sub group led by Professor Simon Mackay of the network has recently secured funding from Cancer Research UK, Prostate Cancer UK and the MRC to enable drug discovery efforts.
