Background:
SMSdrug.net is an Academia-Users Network in Chemical Biology created to initiate, establish and nurture collaborative projects for the advancement of the drug discovery process. We aim to expand the capability of UK drug discovery, with new drug targets, new tools to validate targets and new multidisciplinary partnerships to explore the platforms, tools and targets of the future. The Network involves an extensive cross section of scientists representing synthesis, structural genomics, computational screening, medicinal chemists, biological screening and includes representatives from the pharmaceutical industry. Additional input from those experienced in chemical technologies further support the program. Our efforts involve meetings between Chemists’, Biologists’, and industrial end users. The network has industry engagement with Astex, Astra Zeneca, CRUK, Eisai, European Bioinformatics Institute, GSK, Novartis, RSC, Structural Genomics Consortium and UCB.
